Cheers to Iris, who in Greek mythology, was the personification of the rainbow and (in Homer's Iliad, for example) a messenger of the gods. According to the Greek poet Hesiod, she was the daughter of Thaumas and the ocean nymph Electra. This sticker is inspired by an image drawn by Horatio Walter Lonsdale (1846-1919), a Mexican born British architectal artist. This original design, along with 128 others were prepatory designs for the 3rd Marquess of Bute (hello Scotland!), all based on Greek, Roman and Norse mythology.

Iris is shown here with her messanger wings in a butterfly style, showing (in my depiction) her connection to nymphs like her mother. I used a stone inlay inspired wing, a decorative arts term known as "scagliola". Her person is in an art nouveau style, incorporating that captivating beauty and style that the period was so distinctly known for. So here is Iris- in all of her glory!
